Tap Dancing Pigeon

The Tap Dancing Pigeon of Covent Garden

Serena Hassan, author of ‘The Tap Dancing Pigeon of Covent Garden’ commissioned me to make her a needle felted and embroidered version of the beautifully illustrated Pigeon, by award winning illustrator, Jon Davis. Pigeon has accompanied her to book signings and workshops, and even been on Sky News! He can tap dance, with his pewter feet, ‘coo’ by using a recorder ‘button’ that is hidden under fabric pockets in a feat of textile engineering, and can extend and flap his wings!

I have also made her a large embroidered wool felt hand puppet, for her ventures into ventriloquism, and literacy workshops with schools and young people. Good luck Serena!

“There is only one person you should ever call, when it comes to puppet making! Lise’s craftsmanship is extraordinary, and she has brought the essence out of my main character, called Pigeon, from my award winning children’s book ‘The Tap-Dancing Pigeon of Covent Garden, with her talented textile creativity. I love Lise’s passionate determination and caring personality. Lise is a wonderful person, who strives to deliver the best possible outcome. Lastly, her attention to detail is phenomenal. I will continue to recommend her to many children’s authors and friends. 5 stars from me!”
